Last year, following the EU referendum, I wrote about how a yes/no referendum is not an effective form of consultation (read my post here). This morning, I am pondering whether there is something to be said about not second-guessing the result of your consultation before you do it. Or even, not doing a consultation if you might end up in more of a mess than you started.
