Hidden Gem in Bamburgh

September 7, 2020

I’m delighted that the Accessing Aidan project has been recognised in the UK Heritage Awards 2020. Winner of the Hidden Gem category, the project has opened up the 12th century crypt at St Aidan’s Church, Bamburgh. Visitors can immerse themselves in the story of Anglo-Saxon Bamburgh – learning about the lives of our ancestors whose remains were excavated from the sand dunes nearby. This truly is a fascinating project and it was a pleasure to work on it during its development. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to creating an outstanding visitor experience.
