Looking back on 2021
December 29, 2021Five year anniversary
June 24, 2022I have just started working on a new project and this one is such a treat because it is right on my doorstep. The Coastlands project will protect, enhance, celebrate and provide access to the special qualities of the landscape in an area stretching more or less from Hauxley/Amble in the south to Sugar Sands/Longhoughton in the north.
This is a spectacular stretch of coast which I know well. It’s a landscape which has been shaped by the tides and the rivers Coquet and Aln, creating a productive landscape which has supported communities for thousands of years. This project will explore what makes this area so special – the history, wildlife, views, people and more.
My role is to support the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) partnership to develop a project vision, define project activities and submit an application for funding to the National Lottery Heritage Fund in August. If all goes well, this project will be awarded a Development Grant to enable further project development in 2023 with a full application to be submitted the following year.
I really can’t wait to get stuck into this one!
